December 16 Superintendent Letter to Parents

December 16, 2021

Dear Parents and Guardians,

Eldred schools will be on virtual instruction tomorrow, Friday, December 17th. All buildings and offices will be closed and there will be no out of district transportation. This action is due to non-specific threats made to execute violence at schools across the state. While this is a low-level threat, I will not and cannot take any chances with the safety of your children. One day of virtual instruction is a small price to pay to ensure the safety of Eldred students.

I was part of a Zoom on-line meeting today with the County District Attorney, the sheriff’s office, the state police and local law enforcement representatives and while it was confirmed that this is a “low level” threat, as I said above, I cannot take chances with your child’s safety. Teachers will be conducting class virtually from their homes tomorrow. All students should be on-line at the usual start time for their class. Currently we plan on having schools open on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday of next week.
