Nomination Process

The Eldred Central School Hall of Fame was organized as a positive way of recognizing, preserving, and promoting the heritage of the Eldred School Community. Many individuals have made extraordinary contributions and have had superb accomplishments as members of the Eldred School Community. The Eldred Central School Hall of Fame honors the contributions and accomplishments of individuals who are worthy of district-wide recognition. Nominees must exemplify the high standards of citizenship, leadership, ethical conduct, and moral character.

Each nominee for the Eldred Central School Hall of Fame will either be approved and recognized as a Hall of Fame Inductee or will be placed in the Future Consideration Category by the Eldred Central School Induction Committee. All candidates for nomination for the Eldred Central School Hall of Fame must be current or former student, staff member, administrator, or community member in order to be considered for induction.

Nominating forms are available for download and should be submitted for consideration by March 1st. Nominees are informed of their selection in June 15, and the Induction Ceremony will take place at the High School Graduation Ceremony.

Hall of Fame Nomination Form & Instructions

ELDRED CENTRAL SCHOOL DISTRICT HALL OF FAME NOMINATION 

The Eldred Central School District Hall of Fame was organized to recognize, preserve, and promote the heritage of the Eldred school community. Many individuals have made extraordinary contributions and experienced outstanding accomplishments as members of the school community, and the Hall of Fame honors their contributions and accomplishments.

Nominees should exemplify the high standards of citizenship, leadership, ethical conduct, and moral character.  Nominees must be either Eldred Alumni: Graduates or attendees of the ECSD who have made a lasting and outstanding contribution in their life and career to society upon graduating or leaving the Eldred Central School District;  Former Eldred Faculty & Staff Members:  Teachers and staff whose professionalism and commitment went above and beyond standard expectations and benefitted Eldred students and the District; or Community Member:  Individuals who have made an outstanding contribution to benefit the Eldred Central School District.  If a nominee is not selected for induction into the Hall of Fame in any given year, the nomination will be considered for induction at a future date. The Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony will be held during June Graduation.  Inductees will be notified of their selection before graduation.

The committee will meet to determine the nominees for Hall of Fame Induction at graduation.

Instructions for Completing Submission:  Fill out the attached Hall of Fame Nomination Form.  With the completed nomination form, submit three letters of recommendation (one from the nominator and two from references).  Include support material such as published articles.  Attach a 4” x 6” photograph of the nominee if possible.

Submissions should be returned no later than March 1st. Once the completed nomination form is received by the District, all actions necessary to the selection process shall remain confidential. The school district will retain all information submitted and will not return it. Questions concerning this process can be directed to the office of the District Clerk.

The Eldred Central School District Hall of Fame honors the contributions and accomplishments of individuals who are worthy of district-wide recognition.

Hall of Fame Nomination Form & Instructions

GENERAL RECOGNITION  

Nominees must exemplify the high standards of citizenship, leadership, ethical conduct, and moral character. The categories of student, staff, administrator, and community member are included on the nomination form for expediency in understanding the primary area in which an individual is to be considered for his or her achievements. The group identification is for screening purposes only and to assist those making the nominations to understand the type of information required.  Once nominees are inducted, they are not categorized but are all recognized members of the Eldred Central School District Hall of Fame. All candidates will be judged on their significant and/or long-term contributions in their lifelong pursuits.  These pursuits include but are not limited to: fields of study, careers, athletics, service to the community (at local, state, and national levels), professions, academic accomplishments, and others.  While many have served their communities over a long and distinguished career, their accomplishments must be worthy of prominent recognition for Hall of Fame consideration. Nominees for the Eldred Central School District Hall of Fame will either be approved and recognized as a Hall of Fame Inductee or will be placed in the Holding for Future Consideration Category by the Eldred Central School District Induction Committee.  This Induction Committee is made up of 2 students, 2 staff members, 2 administrators, and 2 community members.

To be considered for induction, all candidates for the Eldred Central School District Hall of Fame must be:

·         current or former student, staff member, administrator or community member

INSTRUCTIONS

All information on this form must be completed and supporting letters of recommendation must be received at the Office of the Superintendent of Schools on March 1st for the candidate to be considered for the current school year. 

Once the complete nomination form is received by the Eldred Central School District, all actions necessary to the selection process shall remain confidential.  All information submitted shall be retained by the school district.

SPECIFIC ITEMS NEEDED TO COMPLETE THE APPLICATION:

Photograph:  A photograph of the nominee should accompany the completed nomination form.  The name of the nominee should be printed on the back of the photograph.

Letters of Recommendation:  A completed nomination form should be accompanied by three letters of recommendation: one from the nominator and two from appropriate individuals who can speak knowledgeably about the nominee’s accomplishments. 

In cases where other support material is difficult to obtain, additional letters may be used to substantiate the individual’s accomplishments or contributions.   Letters of recommendation for other awards or honors should not be used to substitute for this requirement.

Support Documentation: Several published articles (5-7), and other written media should be included to help substantiate the accomplishments and contributions of the nominee.  These materials should focus on the individual’s accomplishments and contributions in chronological order.

Candidates whose careers ended 50 or more years ago and who are deceased will be considered against the accomplishments of their contemporaries, as much as possible.  It is suggested that additional support material be included, such as letters from individuals who had some involvement with the nominee.

In completing nomination materials

·         nominators should sign their names on the application

·         put candidate’s name on all photos

·         type all letters so that the copy is legible

THE HALL OF FAME INDUCTION CEREMONY

The ceremony will take place at the High School Graduation Ceremony at the Eldred Junior Senior High School.  Inductees will be notified of their selection by June 15th.
