Special Education

Beth

To Parents/Guardians and Staff,

It is my pleasure serving the Eldred Central School District as the Director of Special Education.  It is my objective as a Doctor of Special Education and a parent of an individual with a disability, to provide support to students with special needs, their families and staff.  It is the goal of the special education department to provide resources as well as education in as inclusive an environment as possible.  Each student that has an Individualized Education Plan (IEP) or a 504 Plan is assessed for what best meets his/her/their needs and determined in a team setting.

Our school district houses a variety of programs including:  Integrated Co-Teaching, Consultant Teaching, Special Reading Classes, Resource Room/Multi-Skills Classes, an 8:1:1 class, and Subject Specific Special Classes as needed.   We have dedicated and knowledgeable Special Education Teachers and School Psychologists in both our elementary and junior/senior high schools, and a district-wide Speech-Language Pathologist.  We also provide Occupational Therapy and Physical Therapy services.

Lisa Costa is the Secretary, who provides a wealth of assistance for and helps maintain the special education department.  If you have any questions, concerns, or are seeking input regarding special education services you can reach out to her or me at any time.

Best Regards,

Bethany England, Ed.D.
