February 26,2021 Superintendent Letter to Parents

February 26, 2021

Dear Parents/Guardians,

I am writing you to let you know that I will be taking time to have an operation on my back that cannot wait until this summer. My back issues seem to get worse every day.  I will not be allowed to drive for about six weeks. I will be out from March 22nd through April 1st. Hopefully, by April 5th I will be able to do a good deal of work from home.

At our March 11th Board of Education meeting, Traci Ferreira will be appointed as "Acting Superintendent" for the period of time, March 22nd through April 1st. During this time if Mrs. Ferreira needs additional support, she will be assisted by Mr. JJ Gass, who is a certified administrator.

I will tell you that the pain is getting worse daily and that is why this cannot wait until the summer. There is also a danger in waiting as the condition could become difficult to repair if there is too much more damage. Should I need to be out longer than the two weeks identified above, the Board of Education and I will discuss extending Mrs. Ferreira's time as Acting Superintendent. Once my back is fixed, I will continue to work for Eldred for some time. There is still much to do academically even at the age of COVID-19.

Thank you for all that you have done to assist us in supporting your child during this very difficult time. It is my sincere hope that we will have all of the students in school in September and I will be a new man with a back that no longer hurts.

Please contact me if you should have any questions.

Sincerely yours,

John C. Morgano Ed.D.,
Superintendent of Schools
