Home Schooling vs. Keeping Child Home Letter

July 27, 2020

Dear Parents/Guardians,

So what is the difference between Home Schooling and keeping my child home during this health crisis to learn only virtually by tuning into my child’s class lessons?

The difference is in that Home Schooling is done 100% by the parent or someone that the parent hires. These students are not entitled to district services unless they are disabled , in which case they may receive related services but services are limited and the student is not entitled to a diploma should they remain “Home Schooled” through grade 12.

Virtual learning is all on us.  Should you decide to keep your son/daughter home but want him or her to learn from our teachers, then you simply write to the Superintendent and let me know that is your choice. Personally you may change your mind a month into this and if you do, we will do whatever we can to accommodate your child’s return to the class.  Students will learn in sync with their peers at school and will be prepared for the next grade.

Thank you,

John C. Morgano Ed.D.
