June 6, 2021

Dear Eldred Central School District families and community members,

It is our priority and duty to ensure the health and safety of all of our students and staff while in our schools, on our campuses, and on our buses.  We have worked diligently to provide healthy and safe learning environments for everyone. All students, staff, and visitors are still required to wear masks in all district buildings and while on buses.

On June 4, 2021, the New York Department of Health made an inquiry to the Center for Disease Control and Prevention regarding its advisement concerning face coverings in schools.  The current New York Department of Health guidance (April 9, 2021) states:

“Appropriate [personal protective equipment] means, at least, an acceptable mask, which is required to be worn by all individuals in all classroom and non-classroom settings, including but not limited to hallways, school offices, restrooms, gyms, auditoriums, etc.  All visitors must wear masks.”

Sullivan County Public Health Services’ mandate of face coverings in schools, December 2020, also remains in effect.

If either, or both, of these mandates are updated, we will review the guidance carefully and revise our protocols where appropriate.  Until that time, our protocol will remain the same- all students, staff, and visitors are still required to wear masks in all district buildings and on district’s transportation.

We truly appreciate your continued flexibility and patience throughout this entire school year.  We are all looking forward to a successful end to this school year.

Sincerely,

Dr. John Morgano, Superintendent of Schools
