June 2025

Dear Stakeholders,

The Eldred Central School District (“District”) requests your input on the enclosed Agreement between the Sullivan County Sheriff’s Office concerning the assignment of school resource officers in the District.

As you may be aware, Section 2801-a of the Education Law requires a written contract or memorandum of understanding between law enforcement agencies and school districts covering the assignment of school resource officers, which, among other things, defines the relationship between school district personnel and school resource officers as it relates to school discipline. As a stakeholder, your input is requested regarding the Agreement.

Please distribute the enclosed draft Agreement for review and comment to those individuals who are familiar with school discipline. Any comments or suggestions with regard to the proposed memorandum should be forwarded to SRO Comment Input link. (https://www.eldred.k12.ny.us/forms/sro-agreement-comments)

Thank you for your assistance in this important matter.

Sincerely,

Traci Ferreira, Superintendent of Schools
