The Eldred Central School District is proud to recognize National School Bus Safety Week, October 19–23, 2026!
Our school buses carry what matters most — our students! 💛 This week, we recognize and thank our dedicated school bus drivers and transportation staff for the important role they play in getting our students to and from school safely every day.
🚦 Let’s all do our part to keep our students safe!
🚌 Stop for school buses when red lights are flashing.
🚸 Watch carefully for children near bus stops and school buses.
💛 Teach children to stay alert and follow their bus driver's safety instructions.
🚗 Never pass a stopped school bus with flashing red lights.
School bus safety is a shared responsibility, and every safe choice makes a difference!
Thank you to our Eldred CSD transportation team and to our entire community for helping protect our students each and every day. 💙💛

The Eldred ‘Bee The Light’ team was proud to participate in the Out of the Darkness Walk sponsored by the National Alliance for Mental Illness (NAMI) of Sullivan County and the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention (AFSP). Coming together with our community to raise awareness, show support, and help shine a light on suicide prevention and mental health.
Every step we took was a reminder that no one should have to face their darkest moments alone. We walk to honor those we’ve lost, support those who are struggling, and remind everyone that hope is always worth fighting for.
Thank you to everyone who walked alongside us, supported our team, donated, or simply helped spread the message. Together, we can “Bee the Light” for someone who needs it. The team raised $755 to assist AFSP in their efforts to fund research, education, advocacy, and support for those affected by suicide.
If you are struggling, there is help available. Call or text 988 to reach the Suicide and Crisis Lifeline.

October 2026
Dear Parents and Guardians,
This letter is to remind you that an emergency evacuation "go home" drill will take place on Friday, October 9, 2026. This drill is a mandatory requirement under New York State Education Law 8 NYCRR-155.17(j), which mandates that all schools conduct one 15-minute early dismissal drill each academic year. The purpose of this drill is to ensure that our school community is prepared for a real-life emergency that might require an early dismissal.
On October 9, all students will be dismissed 15 minutes earlier than their regular dismissal time. Students who use bus transportation will be dropped off at their designated bus stops approximately 15 minutes earlier than their usual arrival time.
Please make arrangements to be at the bus stop or pick-up location at the adjusted time. We appreciate your cooperation and understanding as we work to ensure the safety and preparedness of our students in any emergency.
If you have any questions, please contact the school office.
Sincerely,
Traci Ferreira, Superintendent of Schools
