Round 2 of our Washington Trip! 🇺🇸📸 Yesterday was filled with incredible memories and meaningful learning experiences as we visited the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, Arlington Cemetery, and the Kennedy Center. And Shear Madness was pure joy—lots of laughs and smiles all around! 🎭 Today was another amazing day as we explored Ford’s Theatre, the Native American Museum, and the Air & Space Museum—so many powerful and exciting moments for our students. The kids also had the chance to pick out their souvenirs, bringing home a little piece of this unforgettable trip. 🛍️ We want to give a huge THANK YOU to our awesome bus driver and our tour guide, Alex, for making this trip so smooth, fun, and memorable! 👏🚌 Another fantastic experience with a great group of students—more memories to come. There are a lot of great things happening this month at Eldred to celebrate Autism Awareness month! Staff at the Junior/High School wore blue yesterday to honor autism. Students and staff at our elementary school have been working on completing artwork to display around the school. Mrs. Parker has been working hard with the students in the 8:1+1 class to decorate their bulletin board.

Just a reminder that the next Parent Empowerment Workshop is scheduled for tomorrow at the George Ross Mackenzie School from 5-6pm, open to families and staff as well. There will be light snacks from 4:30-5pm and childcare if needed. Action Toward Independence and a certified behavior analyst will be providing the workshop. Come to connect with other parents as well. The topic is “Managing Meltdowns for Children with Autism Spectrum Disorder.” Let's celebrate Autism Awareness Month by attending the workshop. Victoria and Maddy represented Eldred today at the Section IX & Section I Student-Athlete Leadership Summit, joining athletes from over 50 schools! They had the opportunity to connect, collaborate, and brainstorm ideas with other student-athletes, bringing back valuable insight to help grow leadership within our own programs. Great job representing Eldred—proud of you both!

Big shoutout to Luke for attending the NYSPHSAA Student athlete Leadership Conference in Albany! He had the opportunity to connect with other Section IX athletes and student leaders from all across New York State. Way to represent Eldred with pride, Luke keep leading the way!

Action Toward Independence and Loriel Pinckney, BCBA are coming to the George Ross Mackenzie School next week, Wednesday April 22nd to provide the next Parent Empowerment workshop, from 5-6pm, sign-in and snacks 4:30-5pm. The topic is: “Managing Meltdowns for children with autism spectrum disorder.” This can also apply to other behaviors/disabilities such as ODD, sensory integration disorder and ADHD.
